Confections

Thursday, August 5, 2010
Took this picture today as a last minute idea as I was totally blanking on
what to do for my blog...My mother is holding a recipe for her "famous
bumble-berry pie." I have it every year on my birthday and it is the most
delicious pie I've ever had. Love you, Mom!

Quote Of The Day:
"C is for cookie. That's good enough for me." ~ Cookie Monster

50 Word Story:
Angels' Confections
Ingredients set out in scattered order. Flour sprinkled across the counter.
The rolling pin and measuring cups discarded off to the side. Oven mitts
resting on the cold burner of the stove, waiting. The warm, pleasing aroma
of baked goods wafts through the house. Sweet confections - the work of
angels.

Bloom

Wednesday, August 4, 2010
This picture was taken today at the Mercer Slough Blueberry Farm. Went
picking with my mother and a friend. We had a good time, except that all
the blueberries were either dead, unripe, or the bushes were stripped
bare...Not nearly as successful as our raspberry picking...This is a picture
of a sunflower they had inside the warehouse.

Quote Of The Day:
"Where flowers bloom so does hope." ~ Lady Bird Johnson

50 Word Story:
Late Bloomer
Closed up in a bud. So new and barely alive in the world. Through cold
nights and hammering rain, it stayed safe in the bud. "When will it bloom?"
the young ones asked. "In time." Warm, mild spring days came. The sun
shone down. And it slowly opened, unexpectedly vibrant.

My People

Tuesday, August 3, 2010
Yet another picture from Gas Works Park! This is of a couple sitting on the
grass overlooking the water. Just two people sitting there and watching the world
go by...

Quote Of The Day:
"Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean."
~ Ryunosuke Satoro

50 Word Story:
These Are My People
These are my people. The green ones, red ones, white ones, black ones.
These are my people, the same ones under the same sun and the same
moon. They think and feel as I do. My people make the rainbow, the
lands, and the sky. We are one. United. Human.

Sweet Innocence

Monday, August 2, 2010
Today's picture is of my cousin. We took a hike today and she posed for this picture in front of a pine tree. She is very sweet and silly and easy-going. I love you so much! (I love the rest of you too!!!)

Quote Of The Day:
"The few wonders of the world only exist while there are those with the sight to see them." ~ Charles de Lint

50 Word Story:

Young Innocence

Twinkling eyes. Bubbling laughter. Screams of joy and delighted surprise. No cares in the world, no worries, no thoughts of the future. Living in the present, taking it a day at a time and making the most of it. Playing until sundown. Living in the sunlight of bliss. Young innocence.

Happiness

Sunday, August 1, 2010
This is my vision of a perfect afternoon. Another picture from Gas Works
Park. I loved the whole scene here...a girl with her her bike and her book by the water...

Quote Of The Day:
"The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance; the wise
grows it under his feet." ~ James Openheim

50 Word Story:
Simply Happy
Many go on long journeys searching for happiness. Many are troubled,
no matter what they try or where they go, they believe they haven't
found happiness. The key to happiness is not to go looking for it, but to
make it. Do something, make something, anything. Happiness is simple.
