Rebellious...

Sunday, September 5, 2010
Today I went mountain biking with my dad and my good friend. We got
horribly lost and ended up on a residential street trying to find our way back
into the network of trails. The trail happened to be right past this sign...the
sign happens to read "Private property - NO TRESPASSING." Of course, we
laughed at it, took a picture, and cut through to the trail.

Quote Of The Day:
"Well behaved women rarely make history." ~ Laurel Thatcher Ulrich

50 Word Story:
Free Spirit
She was never very well behaved. When told to sit like a lady, she slumped.
When told to keep her nice clothes clean, she played in the mud with the
boys. When told to go slow, she ripped it. She didn't listen - she didn't care.
That's why she's free today.

Granted Wishes?

Saturday, September 4, 2010
Today's picture is of a seeded dandelion against the clouds. I was thinking
about wishes and got into a conversation with my amazing mother. We both
realized that we still wish on the first star we see, a penny heads up, a
shooting star, blowing a dandelion...

Quote Of The Day:
"It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan."
~ Eleanor Roosevelt

50 Word Story:
Granted
A new puppy, a wonderful birthday present, cookies from the jar on the
shelf, an afternoon of playing - the wishes of a child. World peace, an end to
war, a raise, safety for the family - the wishes of an adult. Both wished on
the same things; stars, dandelions, pennies...simple things...

Shutter Speed

Friday, September 3, 2010
I took this picture a while ago when we went to a night market in
Seattle. It was sunset and the clock tower was illuminated from behind. A
great picture...

Quote Of The Day:
"The camera can photograph thought." ~ Dirk Bogarde

50 Word Story:
Fleeting Moments
Early morning when the fog is rising off of the fields. A double rainbow
slicing in front of the mountain on a blue skied day. A portrait of a stranger
that reveals more than was expected. A captured laugh. A special moment.
Each the dream and success of a photographer.

Old Letters

Thursday, September 2, 2010
A while ago, I went on a sculpture hike with my parents. There were many
neat sculptures and this was one of them - a giant mailbox. This hike was
the same one we saw This One Box on - it's back a few posts. I took a
particular liking to this mailbox as it was positively giant.

Quote Of The Day:
"After the writer's death, reading his journal is like receiving a
long letter." ~ Jean Cocteau

50 Word Story:
Mysterious Envelopes
A rusty old mailbox sitting on a decaying wooden post. The picture of
neglecting. Resident of the nearby house long dead. Each day, the
postman comes by and delivers a letter to the mailbox, not knowing no one
will receive them. What secrets do these letters hold? Forever a mystery.

Ruler Of Everything...

Wednesday, September 1, 2010
Happy September, everyone! Yay! Today's picture is one I took a while ago
of Sophie. Sophie is my friend's cat - and she is great. Not only does this cat
have attitude, spunk, and a ruling air about her, she's fun and great
entertainment. She'll lie in the middle of the room on her back, daring
anyone who walks by to touch her. You never know with Sophie - she'll
attack your foot or she'll purr. This cat is always keeping us on our toes. She
definitely rules the place and the expression on her face says it. :)

Quote Of The Day:
"As every cat owner knows, nobody owns a cat." ~ Ellen Perry
Berkeley

50 Word Story:
Queen Soph
High on her perch, she is obviously queen of the residence. The air about
her is positively queenly. She makes sure you know it. Her green eyes scan
the area, taking in the day's activities. Deciding what she does and doesn't
approve of...Her ways are not to be questioned...Sophie.
